Noun Clause 1
A.  Definition
A Noun Clause  is a subordinate clause that functions as a noun. In other word, a noun clause is used in the same ways as a noun, namely as a subject or an object.
A Noun Clause is a dependent clause and cannot stand alone as a sentence. It must be connected to independent clause (main clause).                                                         
Example :
v  As a Subject
a. His story was interesting  ( noun as a subject )
b. What he said was interesting  ( noun clause as a subject)
v  As an Object
a. I Heard his story  ( noun as a object)
b. I Heard what he said  ( noun clause as an object)
B.  Formula of Noun Clause 
Noun clause usually begins with a question word, such as when, where, why, how, who, whom, what, which and whose, etc. In addition a noun clause must always be in a positive grammatical construction instead of question or interrogative.

or Whether
A noun clause can also start with if or whether. This kind of noun clause derives from Yes - No Question.
Where does Andy live?
I wonder if he lives in West Jakarta.
Is Andy live on Dewi Sartika Street?
I don’t know if he live on Dewi Sartika Street or not.
Or
I don’t know wether or not he lives on Dewi Sartika Street.
She wanted to know if he lived on Dewi Sartika Street. [Indirect speech from Yes – No question]
C. Function of Noun Clause

      What she cooked was delicious.
      That today is his birthday is not right.
Object of a Verb
      Diana believes that her life will be happier.
      I want to know how Einstein thought.
